This guide is a basic checklist for you to run through to get your 4x4 up to a basic standard to venture off road. Making the day all the more enjoyable!

A good philosophy to take is Keep It Simple Stupid

 

Vehicle

These simple checks are easy to do and will help prevent those nasty surprises you dont want to have to deal with Off-Road! 

 

1.     Coolant level

2.     Brake Fluid level

3.     Engine Oil level

4.     Windscreen Wash level

5.     Lights

6.     Brakes

7.     Tyres: Include the spare! (Pressure and Wheel nut tightness)

8.     Jack kit

9.     Fuel

 

Equipment for vehicle

 

1.     Know your recovery points

2.     Fire extinguisher

3.     Recovery Rope

4.     First Aid Kit

5.     Torch

You and your Passengers

 

1.     Appropriate clothing

2.     Good footwear

3.     Glove’s for handling rope’s etc

 

 

All recoveries by rope in any situation could be potentially dangerous, especially if the stuck vehicle is bogged well down. Not only is it essential to use the correct type of rope for the job in hand, but also it is extremely important to attach the said rope to proper strong towing points that should always be fitted to both the front and rear of the vehicles.
